Instant EOB

Privacy Policy

Draft, pending attorney review. Effective October 6, 2026.

The short version

1. Who we are

Instant EOB ("we," "us") is operated by [owner's legal name], a sole proprietor based in Nebraska, USA. You can reach us at [contact email].

2. What this policy covers

This policy covers instanteob.com, its other web addresses, and the Instant EOB web app. Because the documents you upload can include information about your health care, this policy is also our consumer health data privacy policy. We apply the strictest protections described here to everyone, wherever you live.

3. What we collect

Pages you upload

Photos, screenshots and PDFs of Explanation of Benefits statements, medical, dental or vision bills, and similar documents. These can include names, member and claim numbers, provider names, dates of care, the services you received, diagnosis and procedure codes, and what was charged, paid and owed. Some of that is health information.

Your onboarding answers

What you have (EOB, bill or both), the type of care, and what's bothering you. We only accept answers from a fixed list, so no free text is collected.

Technical information our host records

Like nearly every website, our host automatically records basic request information: your IP address, browser type, the time, and which pages were requested. We use this only to keep the service running and secure. It is kept by Render under its own policies.

What we don't collect

4. How we use it

We use your pages and answers for one purpose: creating the review you asked for.

We will never:

If we ever want to use information in a new way, we will ask for your separate, clear permission first. We won't apply a new use to information collected before.

5. Who receives your information

WhoWhat they receiveWhy
Anthropic (Claude API) Your uploaded pages and onboarding answers Its AI reads the pages and writes your review. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, it does not train its models on this data. It may keep it for a limited time under its own policies, for example for safety and abuse monitoring.
Render (web hosting) Your pages pass through its servers in transit; it records the technical information in section 3 It runs the computers Instant EOB lives on.

No one else receives your pages. We don't use advertising networks, data brokers or analytics companies. If the law ever forces us to hand over information, we will tell you if we're allowed to, though we usually won't have any: we don't keep your pages.

6. How long we keep it

7. Your permission

Before you can upload, we ask you to agree to this policy and our Terms of Service, and to permit your pages to be sent to Anthropic to create your review. You can say no by simply not uploading. You can stop at any time by closing the page.

8. Your rights

You may ask us to confirm what we hold about you, to give you a copy, to correct it, to delete it, or to stop any use of it. Because we don't keep your pages or reviews, we usually have nothing to give or delete, but we will always answer. Email [contact email]; we will respond within 45 days. We won't treat you differently for asking. These rights apply to everyone, whatever state you live in.

9. HIPAA

We are not a health plan, health care provider or claims clearinghouse, and we don't work for one. That means the federal HIPAA privacy law generally doesn't cover what you choose to share with us. We hold ourselves to the promises in this policy instead, which are in several ways stricter: we don't keep your information at all.

10. Security

No system is perfectly secure. If we learn of a breach affecting your information, we will notify affected people and the authorities as the law requires. Because we have no way to contact you directly, we will also post a notice on this site.

11. Children and other people's documents

Instant EOB is for adults 18 and older. It isn't meant for children, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. A parent or legal guardian may upload a statement about their child's care.

Only upload documents you have the right to share: your own, your dependents', or those of someone who has given you permission or legal authority to handle their health care bills.

12. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with a new effective date. If a change affects how your information is used, we'll ask for your permission again before your next upload.
